Take A Tour Across the Fascinating Rome

The ancient country of Rome has a host of iconic sights that you cannot afford to miss. Rome is pretty famous in terms of popularity, and ranks at the second spot when it comes to the most visited cities of the European Union. Each year, an average of ten million tourists visit the country. The Holy Year, which comes once in every 25 years, attracts more visitors indeed. This Holy Year is an extremely auspicious occasion marked by penance, reflection, prayer, and forgiveness.

What To See In Rome?

The capital city of Italy is the most bustling location in Rome, where you get to see some of the most fascinating locations. Here is a list of some of the many beautiful places that you’ll be gifted when you visit Rome.

The Colosseum

If you leave Rome without visiting the magnificent Colosseum, your trip will be incomplete. Its age is over 2000 years, and it is the world’s largest amphitheater, having a capacity of 50,000 to 80,000 spectators. With a lot of historical significance attached to it, the Colosseum is the most popular tourist attraction in Rome, visited by more than 6 million people each year. Sometimes there might be a surge of tickets because of huge crowds; that’s why advance booking is recommended.

The Pantheon

Another top spot that’s neck-to-neck with the Colosseum is the Pantheon. This is a perfect example of Roman architecture at its peak. The Oculus, the majestic columns, the grand dome, and the mosaic flooring are indeed a delight to watch. Christ the Redeemer, sculpted in 1521 by Michelangelo, is one of the many stunning things you can see there.

Trevi Fountain

Another architectural wonder that you cannot miss is the Trevi Fountain. It is one of the city’s oldest fountains. There is a remarkable myth about tossing a coin in the Trevi Fountain. When you toss a single coin means the hope of getting back to Rome, physically or spiritually. Tossing two coins means finding your true love, and three coins stand for marrying the person you met.

These aren’t all. The list is unending. Did you know that Rome has over 900 churches? Do make it a point to tour a few of them, if not all, to witness the brilliant architecture and know of the history associated with each one of them.

Culinary Delight

When in Rome, you cannot go without tasting some of their authentic platters. No trip to Italy is complete without tasting the various varieties of pizzas they offer, followed by other favorites like lasagna, carbonara, gnocchi, and a lot more. The popular cappuccino and the Italian wines should also be in the list of beverages to try.

The perfect months to visit Rome are from June to August. These are also the peak seasons as well when the rates would be high. Plan tactfully to make your visit to this amazing place a memorable and fulfilling one indeed. However, if you are looking for fewer crowds, spring and fall are the ideal times to plan.
