Let’s Explore Switzerland At A Glance

If you have planned to tour Europe, then Switzerland must surely be quite high on your bucket list. Right? It is a highly sought-after destination with several tourists visiting the country each year. So what makes it so popular? The brilliant weather, the scintillating and picturesque beauty of the Swiss Alps, the fascinating markets, and, to top it all, the lip-smacking Swiss chocolates are what will attract you to the core. The peak season when most tourists plan to go to this country is between May and September; however, in the mountainous terrain, the ideal time to visit is June. If you wish to skip the crowd, then March-May and October-November are the ideal times.

What To See And Do In Switzerland?

There is plenty to do and see in Switzerland, more than you can even think of. Let’s check them out.

Exploring Zermatt

This marvelous village is indeed a delight to visit. You will be stunned to see the breathtaking views of the famous Matterhorn peak that you’ll get from here. More importantly, if you are looking for some serenity and calmness as you enjoy your vacation, this one would be the perfect place. While in summer you can have a whale of a time hiking along the marvelous trails, winter is for those fascinated with skiing, snowboarding, and other interesting mountain sports.

Visiting Lucerne

If you wish to explore more of Switzerland’s scenic beauty, visiting the city of Lucerne should be high on your list of to-dos. Besides sightseeing, Lucerne is popular for a host of outdoor activities. From here, you may visit Mount Rigi or Mount Pilatus for a hiking spree in summer, and skiing during the winter months. The wooden chapel bridge is one of the key attractions of Lucerne.

A Trip to the Lauterbrunnen Valley

Another delightful spot to visit, popular for the 72 unique waterfalls that it houses. The peace and tranquility of this place are something that would entice you immensely. If you intend to hike past the scenic landscape and get a glimpse of the waterfalls, then summer is the perfect time to visit. The wintertime from December - March is perfect for skiing.

Taste the Delicious Swiss Chocolates

Swiss chocolates, renowned for their high quality and delicious taste, are a must-try when you visit the country. A combination of milk and chocolates, and the smooth, creamy texture that just melts in your mouth, is what makes them all the more special. If you do not want to stop here, then go a step further. You may take guided tours to chocolate museums, factories, or workshops, and look into the chocolate-making process from close quarters.

The list given above is a handful of the many things that you can do in Switzerland. If you go there at the end of July or the beginning of August, you will have the pleasure of witnessing Swiss National Day, celebrated on the 1st of August. You will be a part of the grand celebrations involving fireworks, bonfires, political speeches, and more.
